Priceline.com lures Citigroup CFO

Priceline.com's Heidi Miller, Fortune Magazine's 1999 second most powerful woman in American business, replaced Paul Francis as CFO of the online retailer. She was also appointed as the company's Internet bidding service's senior executive vice president who is responsible for strategic planning and administration. Miller's move opened the chief financial officer position at Citigroup.

Priceline hits a sour chord

Article Abstract:

Priceline.com was met with another problem on Sep 28, 2000, when the Connecticut's attorney general said that he will conduct a consumer fraud investigation into the Norwalk, CT-based online seller of airline tickets. The announcement was made a day after Priceline warned that its third- quarter revenue will be lower than expected. However, many analysts believe that the company will break even by the end of the year.

Budget, Priceline make deal for rental-care bids

Article Abstract:

Budget Group Inc will rent cars over the Internet on a name-your-price basis through a deal with Priceline.com, the leading Internet provider of services that allow shoppers to post a bid on the prices of airline tickets, hotel rooms and mortgages. The agreement will allow Priceline to expand into one-price travel packages and boost its profit margins. Under the terms of the deal, Priceline will take its standard commission of each rental made over the company's web site.
