CEO of Tandy tunes in on fix for RadioShack

Tandy CEO Leonard Roberts has engineered a remarkable turnaround at the Radio Shack consumer electronics chain. Once beaten by the competition from superstore chains such as Best Buy and Circuit City, Radio Shack has staged a comeback by focusing on providing better service. Alliances with high-profile companies such as Microsoft, Sprint and RCA/Thomson also helped to bring in more revenues to the company.

CEO sees consumers getting personal with Palms

Article Abstract:

Palm CEO Carl Yankowski says the eWallet feature on the Palm Pilot allows consumers to make purchases with convenience. Yankowski adds that the purchases can be done using a simple software but with sufficient security. He claims that adding more features on the Palm Pilot will not lessen the device's simplicity. Users can avail of these features through Web downloads and CD-ROMs. Yankowski emphasizes that the Palm's simplicity and elegance are competitive advantages that the company will not sacrifice.

Web sites help newbies take big step

Several Web sites are offering small enterprises an opportunity to sell on the Internet. Bigstep.com, econgo.com, freemerchant.com and similar sites help small businesses set up a Web presence, promote their products or services and handle orders. According to a survey by the Gallup Organization and GTE SuperPages.com, only 25% of companies with 50 or fewer employees that use the Web have their own Web sites.
