CIBC mulling U.S. settlement

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) is considering a settlement with U.S. regulators over its alleged role in financing improper mutual fund trades to improve its reputation and deal promptly with the aftermath of its involvement in a series of well-published financial scandals. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has charged an $80 million settlement over the charges that the CIBC 'aided and abetted' the accounting fraud at Enron Corp.

WTC firm bonds to heal wounds

Euro Brokers Inc., which lost staff in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center towers in 2001, has opened new offices at One Seaport Plaza. The bond trading company, which had offices at the south tower of WTC, lost an estimated 61 employees.
