CRTC rules 'incumbent' phone firms must speed rival access

Toronto, Ont.-based Bell Canada and other telephone companies have been ordered to open their phone lines to competitors. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission made the ruling which favors competitive local exchange carriers.

Earnings: Call-Net losses trimmed in first quarter

Article Abstract:

Call-Net Enterprises Inc. cut its losses and dramatically boosted operating profit in the first quarter, even though it suffered a 13% decrease in revenue, $76.3-million, that was mostly planned.
