Apple Computer's $550 million purchase of Steven Jobs' NeXT Software Inc may not revive Apple. Although Jobs will advise Apple Chmn Gil Amelio on a part-time basis, Jobs is devoted to running the computer animation company Pixar Inc. Jobs has expressed doubt about working alongside Apple's current management.
