Another Chrysler exec decides to hit the road

Article Abstract:

DaimlerChrysler AG Co-Chmn Robert Eaton has announced his retirement from the company on Mar 31, 2000. Eaton is the latest of a number of former Chrysler Corp officials who have left since the company's merger with the former Daimler-Benz AG of Germany. This includes some of its best talent, leading some observers to say that the merger has actually been a takeover by the German automaker, and to question a marriage of two different corporate culture

Chrysler stands on uneasy precipice

Article Abstract:

Chrysler Corp Pres James Holden is reportedly being replaced by Dieter Zetche, a move that company observers believe belies the pretense that US- based executives continue to have control of the company. Zeche, who has also asked Wolfgang Bernhard to join him as COO, is said to be close to DaimlerChrysler CEO Juergen Schrempp. Holden's departure from Chrysler has already resulted in a lowered rating for the company among financial analysts from Wall Street.

Car-sale slump hits Chrysler hardest: sales skid 16%

Article Abstract:

Chrysler' sales have plummeted 16% in Jan 2001. The drop was led by a 39% decline in sales of minivans, its bread-and-butter model. It reflects a trend across the industry where sales are estimated to have fallen 6.2%, compared with Jan 2000. Chrysler's car sales fell by 22% while truck sales fell 14% during the month. The decline in minivan sales was attributed to a generous loan program that the automaker offered on the minivans in Jan 2000.
