Three carmakers create link

Article Abstract:

General Motors Corp, Ford Motor Co and DaimlerChrysler AG are consolidating their respective online purchasing operations into a single Internet purchasing exchange. The venture is open to suppliers, retailers as well as other automakers. Small carmakers zip around safety standards

Article Abstract:

Small automobile manufacturers usually try to evade safety regulations imposed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), arguing that they might go out of business with the high cost attributed to the standard compliance. As the NHTSA solicits criticism from several safety experts for the exemptions it grants to some small carmakers, the practice also highlights how costly federal regulations have become.
