Centra Gas found 'imprudent' in trading

Article Abstract:

Centra Gas Ltd., a subsidiary of Vancouver, Canada-based WestCoast Energy Ltd., was found by the Public Utilities Board in Manitoba, Canada, of being unreasonable and imprudent in losing C$45.5 million in futures trading. According to the provincial price review board, the firm's shareholders must shoulder at least C$27.25 million of the losses and another C$18.25 million is to be passed on to consumers to reflect the volatility of the natural gas market. Centra Gas serves hundreds of thousands of gas clients on Winnipeg, Canada, and southern Manitoba.

Assante bulks up with acquisitions

Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Assante Corp., which is a leading sports management company, has been expanding its operations through a series of key acquisitions. Assante, which has about $15 million in cash, confirmed it has about $26 billion in assets under administration and $4 billion under management.
