Article Abstract:

Broken Hill Proprietary, the Australian-based mining, exploration and steel firm, has undergone radical change under the leadership of its chief executive officer Paul Anderson. Anderson, who took over the company in late 1998, consolidated the firm's scattered operations around the world. However, the company continues to face challenges, particularly in its attempt to sell its 52% share in OK Tedi, the biggest copper mine in the world, which could become a long-term liability for the company.
