Strong earnings for tech's titans

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp and Intel Corp posted better-than-expected profits for their latest quarters. Intel reported an increase in net income to $3.1 billion in 2nd qtr 2000, a large jump from the $1.8 billion it posted for the same period in 1999. Microsoft, despite posting no significant gains in revenues, reported a 9% increase in fiscal 4th qtr 2000 revenues to $2.4 billion. Flat sales for the quarter is attributed to the reluctance of most corporate clients to upgrade their systems until summer 2000.
