Cover-up clinched Martha's downfall

Article Abstract:

A Manhattan jury found home decorating guru Martha Stewart guilty for lying to federal investigators in early 2002 about a questionable stock trade. She would be prosecuted for obstructing an investigation that never led to charges for the alleged offence with which the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission were initially concerned.

Dr. Yuri Verlinsky developed the screening technique used by fertility clinics to select for genetic traits desperately desired by future parents. Adam Nash, a baby born to Lisa and Jack Nash, using this procedure, provided cells from his umbical cord and blood, needed to help Molly, his sister, to survive Franconi's anemia, a congenital disease that rendered her uanble to produce bone marrow.
