Article Abstract:

Meryl Tankard was terminated as artistic director of the Australian Dance Theatre, the fourth to be acrimoniously removed in the company's history. The arts minister Diana Laidlaw indicated 14 reasons for the dismissal in a letter sent to 140 people, including Tankard's mother. While a major city like Adelaide cannot sustain a world-renowned dance company, Wuppertal, Germany funds a larger company which has had the same artistic director for 25 years.

The aim of the in-house Pixar University is not primarily to train employees in how to better perform their jobs, but to keep them educated, entertained and, ideally, employed at Pixar Animation Studios for many more years. Company workers can spend up to four hours per week in classes that offer traditional arts courses such as drawing, sculpting, writing and live-action filmmaking.
