Deloitte unaware of other audit

Article Abstract:

Deloitte and Touche L.L.P. had not been informed that an outside consultant had conducted a detailed study of YBM Magnex International Inc.'s (YBM's) clients while the accounting firm was performing audits of YBM's 1996 and 1997 financial reports. Stephen Coulter, a partner with Deloitte, told the hearing that his company had not been aware that private forensic investigation company Fairfax Group Ltd. was hired in 1996 by a special committee of YBM's board of directors.
