Digital meets chemical

Article Abstract:

Olympus America's new digital Camedia C-211 Zoom camera is a hybrid that combines the chemical print process of Polaroid Type 500 film and a filmless, 2.1-megapixel digital system that stores images on a SmartMedia card. The only drawbacks to the camera are its looks, weight and need for special CR-V3 lithium batteries. Those quibbles notwithstanding, the Camedia C-211 Zoom seamlessly integrates the best of new and old technologies, and possesses many great features.

Sony's new digital camera: filmless, yes. CD-less, no

Article Abstract:

Sony's Mavica MVC-CD1000 digital camera is large, and costs $1,300, but those drawbacks aside, is a great product. Rather than using floppies, it contains a CD-burner that records every photo on a CD, an exciting improvement. It has a huge memory capable of storing 160 of its highest-resolution photos or 1,080 low-resolution photos on just one CD.
