Do Popeye and Bluto love juice - or each other?

Article Abstract:

Minute Maid's latest commercial has become controversial over insinuations that cartoon characters Popeye and Bluto are a gay couple. The TV spot shows the two cartoon sailors, eternal rivals for the affection of Olive Oyl, bonding on a seesaw and at the beach. They even ride off together on a bicycle built for two. The ad has built rapport with the gay and lesbian community, according to Cathy Renna of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. However, the conservative Culture and Family Institute, says Coca-Cola is using cartoons to spread gay themes to children.
