Do copyright holders need new protections in the digital era?

Article Abstract:

Disagreement exists on whether copyright holders should have new legal protections for the digital age. Intellectual property law can be interpreted to cover any media, including networks like the internet. But others claim that such laws do not apply on the internet, and that any nation's law is not valid in cyberspace. Intellectual property can also be viewed as a limited monopoly which may need application to cyberspace.
