Do video games make kids more violent?

Article Abstract:

The American Psychological Association recommended in 2005 that all violence be reduced in video games marketed to children and youth, after an expert committee reviewed research indicating that exposure to video-game violence increase youths' aggressive thoughts and behavior. However, there is substantial debate among psychologists over whether violent behavior can be blamed on video games, as well as about the long-lasting negative effects of video violence on young people.

Video games: Pinball precursor

Article Abstract:

Some historians believe pinball was the mechanical precursor of video games, but Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) student Steve Russell, who created a rocketship game called 'Spacewar!' in 1961, is generally considered the inventor of video games. Computer games, since then, became increasingly sophisticated as computer animation permitted film-like dramas with original scripts and music, and by the late 1980s began moving from bars and arcades to homes.
