Microsoft's uncertain future rattles investors

Article Abstract:

The possibility of a breakup of software firm Microsoft following an antitrust ruling has made investors nervous about the future of the company. This nervousness was reflected in the decline in the price of Microsoft stock, which closed at $66.63 on April 24, 2000, compared to the stock's all-time high of $120. Analysts were optimistic that if the Justice Dept orders a structural breakup of the firm, this would prove advantageous to Microsoft's shareholders.
