Northern Territory's former chief minister Shane Stone is being considered for the position of president of the Australian Liberal Party, but his past behavior has caused some to doubt his candidacy. He was found guilty of unprofessional conduct by the Northern Territory Law Society after compromising a client's interests in a political meeting.

Howard has breached his own code of conduct

Article Abstract:

Howard breached his own code and should resign. In his 'A Guide On Key Elements Of Ministerial Responsibility,' Howard asserted that prime ministers should not be permitted to hold directorships in public companies. Yet, he was a director of the public company Menzies Research Centre Ltd for six months during his term as prime minister.

III wind blows for labor over health rebate issue

Article Abstract:

Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Minister for Health Michael Wooldrige introduced a 30% rebate on private health insurance premiums, which was a result of a research that revealed its political and social advantages. The Howard government knows that it is politically damaging for Labor Party to oppose such a popular measure.
