Firm vies for Indian Motorcycle brand
Article Abstract:
Indian Motorcycle Co., a Toronto, Ontario-based company, is vying to acquire the Indian Motorcycle US trademark against Eller Industries Inc. The company, which already has rights to the Canadian trademark, wants to restore the Indian Motorcycle brand by mass producing branded bikes and opening dealerships under the contested name. The US District Court in Denver, CO, is scheduled to hear the case on Nov. 25, 1998, and determine which of the two vying companies would gain the right to the Indian Motorcycle trademark. Indian Motorcycle plans to expand to 22 markets in North America; bring the brand to Australia, Mexico, New Zealand and Italy; and launching museums, stores and cafes at its motorcycle dealerships worldwide.
