Article Abstract:

Andrew Refshauge, the New South Wales health minister, has suspended a needle exchange program due to negative publicity, highlighting the political climate to which public health programs are subject. The Murray-Howard system

Article Abstract:

Australia's prime minister John Howard and unofficial poet laureate Les Murray collaborated on a new preamble to the country's constitution. The final draft has undergone considerable changes in political consultation and has caused controversy in the press. Murray distances himself from the finished work, pointing out the political process changed almost everything he wrote. He is proud of one sentence of his that remains, referring to a country free of prejudice.
