Foreign Affairs: Ambivalent Economy

Article Abstract:

Wales has been offered the possibility of some self-government, but many voted against the referendum that would have given Wales a semi-autonomous Assembly. Some people were concerned that paying for the Assembly would just mean higher taxes, while others simply knew very little about the referendum, which was poorly covered in the media. The referendum did pass and the National Assembly of Wales must now try to govern Wales.
