The forces making for an economic collapse: why a depression could happen

Article Abstract:

The weakening of the US economy since the 1970s indicates that the next recession will deepen into a depression. Some of the factors undermining the economy include changes in world labor markets, demographic shift to entitled elders, high household debt, and weakening of unions and wages.

How to rewrite economic history: the Boskin Commission's attack on the Consumer Price Index is weak on the merits and scary as policy

Article Abstract:

The Boskin Commission has concluded that the CPI overstates the rate of cost-of-living inflation by 0.8 to 1.6 percentage points per year. This lets the government claim that economic growth is higher than previously reported and adopt policies that hurt low- and middle-income families.

Abortion in American history

Article Abstract:

Abortion has been a common practice in the US since the 1700s, but many early abortion-inducing drugs were fatal. Physicians were among the main supporters of criminalization of abortion. The real debate about abortion seems to be about the sexual behavior and subordination of women.
