Freud in our midst

Article Abstract:

Sigmund Freud, the theoretician who explored a vast new realm of the mind, the unconscious, was driven by the Nazis from his beloved Vienna, and died in London in 1939, but he still haunts us. Freud was a philosopher who identified childhood experience, not racial destiny or family fate, as the determinant of character, and was a therapist who invented a specific form of treatment called psychoanalysis, involving recollection and reflection to a sympathetic professional.

An inconvenient woman

Article Abstract:

Some of the women related to Jesus Christ such as Mary Magdalene, Virgin Mary, Elizabeth and others are discussed some being respected preachers while others who played modest roles as hosts or servants. Dan Brown's 'Da Vinci Code' lead to reinventing Mary Magdalene's role as the ideal working mother, protecting the mystery of faith by day, raising Jesus' child by night.

The race against avian flu

Article Abstract:

US public health officials in 2005 warned the administration about the threat of a possible avian flu outbreak in the country while researchers worked to find a vaccine for the H5N1 virus that causes avian flu. A second line of defense against avian flu is antiviral drugs, in particular once called Tamiflu from the Swiss drug company Roche.
