Gender-equity study

Article Abstract:

The Knight Foundation Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics conducted a study on gender-equity in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The study supposedly shows that most of the 700 respondent colleges comply with Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments. Women involved in college sports administration, however, are skeptical about the study's credibility and have pointed out that women were not consulted when the study was conducted.

Gender gap

Article Abstract:

The average working woman receives only about 71 cents for every dollar earned by a man doing a job requiring similar skills and responsibility. The so-called gender gap in salary affects about 57 million working women in the US. Proposals to close the gap suggest creating 'gender neutral' job evaluations based on skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions. The pay equity plan faces opposition from some sectors.

Gender-equity fight

Article Abstract:

Studies by David and Myron Sadker reported in the 1980s period that boys received more classroom attention from teachers that helped them to perform better in class. American Enterprise Institute's Sommers opposed the reports, revealing that boys got more attention from their teachers, as they were less attentive in the class that showed in their under- performance.
