Global Crossing-Exodus deal said to collapse

The deal between Global Crossing Ltd. and Exodus Communications is failing because the two companies can't seem to agree on a price. Global Crossing was to sell its Web-hosting unit for a stock swap that would equal $7 billion.

SBC to disclose series of steps to raise profile in cyberspace

Article Abstract:

SBC Communications Inc. will announce partnerships with Commerce One Inc., Deloitte Consulting and Proxicom. SBC plans to spend $50 mil on an Internet hosting center in Dallas, using equipment supplied by Cisco Systems Inc. SBC has also bought a controlling stake in InQuent Technologies, Toronto, which operates WebHosting .com. The company faces competition from data telecom providers such as WorldCom Inc. and Quest Communications International Inc.
