Global recovery flows on capital tide

Article Abstract:

Japan can recover from the 1997-98 economic crisis by relying on rationalization and downsizing. US Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan led the effort to lower global interest rates, and the announcement that Japan's economy grew by 1.9% may suggest it is in the early stages of recovery. Much of Japan's and Europe's capital has flowed to US Treasury bonds and Wall Street equities, creating significant prosperity for the US.

Australian business may have to send work abroad in order to stay competitive in the global economy.
