Haemacure halts trials for biological glue

Article Abstract:

Haemacure Corp of Montreal, Quebec, has halted a Phase III clinical trial of its Hemaseel HMN fibrin sealant in total knee replacement surgery. The company said the biological glue failed to arrest blood loss significantly during knee surgery, and that the market potential of the product application did not merit continued testing. The company, however, said it will continue testing the product for other applications, notably heart surgery.

Mobile phone use to skyrocket: study

Article Abstract:

The mobile phone market will grow between 20% to 30% annually to 16.6 million subscribers in 2003 from 6.7 million in 1999, according to a study by Toronto, Canada-based technology research firm Data Corp (Canada) Ltd. This means that more than half of Canadians will own mobile phones within the next four years. Increased use of mobile phones will be driven by low prices and the introduction of new services sich as wireless E-mail merge.

Staffing agencies shift gears to meet rising IT needs

Article Abstract:

Many temporary placement agencies are integrating information technology (IT) services as a key niche for industry staffing due to extensive demand and high-profit potential. However, some agencies fail to establish the distinction between demands for IT recruitment and other traditional, non- technical jobs. Recruiters must therefore exert extra effort to accommodate demand for IT professionals.
