Has the "diversity movement" been good for American employers?

Article Abstract:

The issue of workplace diversity is addressed from two different directions: that diversity is being forced on people by the political mechanism and that diversity is a natural result of a diverse general population. Those who see the diverse workplace as natural emphasize the positive aspects of diversity, such as improved international competitiveness, and are more concerned about diversity management within businesses. Those who see diversity as externally imposed feel that the way diversity is presented separates people by race and gender instead of focusing on equal treatment.
