High and mighty

Article Abstract:

Athletes Matt Shirvington and Susie O'Neill are two of the many Australians expected to compete at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Many observers feel local athletes receive significant support from performing in front of fellow citizens. New South Wales Olympics Minister Michael Knight expects Australians to win as many as 20 gold medals due to this psychological advantage.

Witness: the verdict

Article Abstract:

A former executive of Australia's Seven Network discuses the demise of the current affairs television program "Witness" and his battle in court over the network firings. The program's failure was do to its mission of treating serious stories in a light manner, and light stories in a serious manner. The public was tired of trash journalism on current affairs programs.
