Australian Labor Leader Mark Latham's vexed question of protecting Tasmania's old-growth forests from the logging industry before the federal election would lead to a damaging revolt from Tasmanian Labor MPs. However, Latham stated that after consulting all the different interests, he would do the best he can for the national interest of Tasmania, Australia and the federal Labor party.

Spitting chips: a British MP is a calling for a boycott of Tasmania

Article Abstract:

Tasmania's forests have probably lost most of its greenery and are in the process of becoming an ecological disaster. British MP, Norman Baker, has requested British tourists to boycott Tasmania and has urged British government to apply pressure on Tasmania, in order to protect the states beauty and stop further destruction, which is caused due to logging.

The destruction of the forestry industry in Tasmania is discussed. It is mentioned that Tasmania was the only state where the destruction of native forests is being accelerated, driven by the greed for profit that can be made from woodchips, which began 31 years ago.
