Husky shares surge to new high

Reports suggest that the Chinese government is in talks to buy Calgary-based Husky Energy Inc. from Hong Kong tycoon Li Kashing through one of its state-owned energy companies. With Husky Energy Inc. in its control, China can cushion oil price hikes with rising profits at the Calgary based company.

Battle of Baghdad will be key to oil price

Industry analysts said that the global oil price will rise or fall due to the the level of success of the military campaign against Iraq. The Canadian Energy Research Institute said that the duration of survival of Iraq's government will contribute to volatility in energy markets.

Truckers' fuel costs may hit home

The price of fuels rose to record highs affecting truckers who would pass on the price increase to clients and ultimately to customers. George Ledson Sr., said surcharges were being asked by all carriers.
