IDS extends bid for Scintrex

Article Abstract:

IDS Intelligent Detection Systems Inc. of Ottawa, Ontario, extends its C$45 million hostile takeover bid for Scintrex Ltd. of Concord, Ontario. The company will also ask the Ontario Securities Commission to eliminate Scintrex's poison pill plan. Meanwhile, Scintrex is determined to contest the application, hoping that it can get a better offer by the time that hearing begins. IDS has already gotten 1.6 million shares under its offer, which on a fully diluted basis is 49.5% of the total and a little under the 51% threshold previously set by the company.
