This Net is built for play

Article Abstract:

SegaNet is offering a new online gaming service for Dreamcast players based on professional football. The service, SegaSports NFL 2K1, will feature quicker speed and reponse times for players across the United States. Sega hopes that the NFL as a game theme will provide a sense of identity and community for players, and counter the stereotype of isolation associated with online gaming.

Windows without wincing

Article Abstract:

The Compaq iPAQ H3650 and Casio's Cassiopeia EM-500 hand held computers debut the Microsoft PocketPC software. PocketPC is the successor to the Windows CE OS, or WinCE. WinCE was widely castigated for putting too many features of the Windows GUI into a small format screen. PocketPC corrects many of these problems, simplifying menus and eliminating icon clutter. The devices themselves emulate the popular Palm design. The iPAQ has 32 MB RAM. The Cassiopeia has 8 MB of RAM. Both units have games, MP3 players, the Microsoft Reader program, in addition to organizer functions. The color screens tend to use up batteries in 6 to 12 hours.
