Intel seeks to protect e-medicine

Article Abstract:

Intel Cop announced a new service on Oct 12, 1999, that will electronically identify physicians and patients to enable them to safely exchange confidential medical information over the Internet. The service will be available in 2000 and will use private codes given to physicians, patients and other health care providers. Since it involves more step in verifying users' identities, it will provide a considerably higher degree of security than most other types of electronic transactions such as electronic mail.

Behind the scenes of a stock offering

Article Abstract:

Keynote Systems, a San Mateo, CA-based firm that uses a network of computers to measure Web site performance, went public on Sep 24, 1999. The initial public offering was handled by underwriters BancBoston Robertson Stephens. The stocks were sold at $14, giving Keynote $56 million, minus a few in commission fees. Keynote particularly provides products for big and small companies involved in electronics commerce.
