Fla. travel companies agree to refunds for trips

Four travel companies based in Florida, National Travel Services, Plaza Resorts, Florida Travel Network and Crowne Plaza Resorts, have agreed to settle complaints that they deceived customers into purchasing high-priced vacation packages by giving refunds to customers. False promise of free trips and substandard accomodations for vacation packages were some of the complaints brought by state attorneys general.

Internet saves small businesses big bucks on travel

Article Abstract:

A number of travel agencies are now offering free online booking and other travel management services to small businesses. The move, which can result in savings of as much as 30%, gives small businesses the same access to lower rates that are traditionally given only to major companies. Some of the Web sites that offer such services include biztravel.com, yatra.net, myobtravel.com, travel.american, companytrip.com, express.com/travel/rezport and sabrebts.com.

More companies push workers to book travel online

Article Abstract:

Online booking systems are being encouraged for employees who still make travel reservations the old-fashioned way, by calling a travel agent. Online booking systems have become popular among companies trying to cut travel costs. However, companies say they are missing huge savings from online booking systems, which allow employees to make air, hotel and rental car reservations on their companies' Internet system, that are supposed to slice 20% to 30% off travel expenses.
