7 new domains are chosen to join the popular .com

Icann, or the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, has initiated seven new domains for use on the Internet. The new domains were chosen from almost 50 applications submitted by business and other organizations. The new domains are: .info, .biz, .pro, .name, .museum, .aero and .coop.

Intel beats forecast; warns of revenue shortfall

Article Abstract:

Intel's reported earnings beat analysts estimates, but the semiconductor company warned of a smaller revenue due to the lowered expectations of PC sales and general market slowdown. Earnings were reported at $2.6 billion or 38 cents a share.

Internet access service on verge of closing; MobileStar lays off its workers and says it may sell assets

Article Abstract:

Richardson, TX-based MobileStar Network Corp. has laid off all its workers and plans to sell all its assets if it unable to find a buyer to continue its Internet access services in public places. The company's network remains in operation although disruptions in its operations are expected. MobileStar has hired San Ramon, CA-based Diablo Management Group to handle the sale and Diablo's CEO Richard G. Couch has taken over as chairman and MobileStar's only employee.
