MD honored for research on blood clots

Better diets helping to cut cancer rate

Article Abstract:

The Canadian Cancer Society has issued its annual statistics report on cancer rates. The report, which predicts that 134,100 new cases of cancer and 65,300 deaths from cancer in Canada will occur in 2001, estimates that the disease costs the Canadian economy approximately $14.5 billion annually.

Is women's risk of breast cancer really 1 in 9? Researchers say no

Article Abstract:

The California Cancer Registry reported that older women on average have a one-in-eighty six risk of being diagnoses with breast cancer than the traditional statistic of one-in-nine. The report recommends that health care providers stop using the older statistic because it is misleading.
