Judge to rule on Universal, MP3 case

Article Abstract:

A judge is expected to issue a ruling on Sep 6, 2000, on a lawsuit brought by world's largest sound recordings company Universal Music Group against Internet World Wide Web-based online music company MP3.com. The plaintiff has accused MP3.com of allegedly infringing on Universal's copyrights and seeks up to $450 million in damages. MP3.com says that an award of that size would put it out of business. The Internet company still confronts potential lawsuits from music publishers and other record companies.
