Steve Hatton has been chosen to create a bipartisan committee to educate the public about the Northern Territory statehood process. Chief Minister Shane Stone's efforts to speed up the process aggressively are seen as having led to its failure. Hatton has been involved in the statehood call from early on and believes in making the process democratic.
