King of the kayak

Article Abstract:

Renn Crichlow will compete for Canada in both the 500- and 1,000-meter kayak events at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Crichlow, who finished 11th and 12th in the two events at the 1988 Olympics, trains daily two hours of weightlifting, one hour of swimming and two hours of paddling.

Reviving the dream

Article Abstract:

Canadian rower Silken Laumann appeared to be unable to compete in the Olympics after her leg was injured in a rowing accident. Laumann, a world champion single sculler, recovered in less than two months from the broken bone and lacerated leg.

Shattered dreams

Article Abstract:

Rower Silken Laumann was injured when a German boat rammed into hers, lacerating her calf muscle. Laumann had been one of Canada's top hopes for an Olympic gold medal, but she will miss the 1992 Games in Barcelona.
