Language rules: An even tougher challenge than creditors? Air Canada seeks 'level playing field'

Article Abstract:

Montreal-based Air Canada, after an 18-month restructuring process, plans to trim the costly business of bilingualism and improve its business strategy, including updating its linguistic action plan. The airline has battled creditors, and unions and is upset over Ottawa's unfair and costly bilingualism demands, as it forces the airline to schedule translators around the clock, buy advertisements in small French-language newspapers and train staff to be bilingual.
