The North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan included the introduction of the 2001 Ford Escape sport-utility vehicle. Oakville, Bobbie Gaunt, the president and chief executive officer of Ont.-based Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd., presented the new SUV at the trade show.

Daimer to put $1.5-billion into truck plant

Germany's DaimlerChrysler AG has announced a plan to invest $1.5 billion in a Windsor, Ont.-based truck assembly factory. DaimlerChrysler's investment is aimed at the introduction of a new sport utility vehicle and a new pickup truck by 2003.
