Lotus head quits amid murky events

Article Abstract:

Lotus Development Corp CEO Jeff Papows has announced his resignation from the software company. Papows said that he would like to be the head of his own company. However, his departure from Lotus comes at a when controversies have hounded him. He was the subject of a sexual harassment case filed by a former Lotus executive. He was also exposed by the 'Wall Street Journal' for inconsistencies about certain events in his life. He used to tell his colleagues that he was a former Marine pilot. The newspaper found out that he was just an air-traffic controller.

Gates closes an era

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp CEO Bill Gates is stepping down after holding the position for 25 years. He will be replaced by Microsoft Pres Steve Ballmer. Gates, however, will remain the chairman and chief software architect. Some industry experts said that the move will have only a small effect on the company's day-to-day operations and is most probably the first step in the company's strategy to enter the Internet industry.

Software genius gets into Groove

Article Abstract:

Groove Networks is releasing a software program, called Groove, in late Mar or early Apr 2001. Groove is being developed by Ray Ozzie, the programmer who created Lotus Notes. Groove is like Notes which lets a company's far-flung employees collaborate using computers and corporate networks. However, Groove is built for the Internet and could be used by many times more people. Technology executives and developers await Groove the way science-fiction fans pine for George Lucas' next 'Star Wars' movie.
