Stumpage reforms proposed

Article Abstract:

Weyerhaeuser Co. issued proposals for solving a dispute that brought about a 19.3 percent U.S. tariff on Canadian lumber. The company suggested that if stumpage prices and timber rates were determined at auctions, Canada's lumber industry would move away from government subsidies to a market-based system.
