Market has image problem: Dodge

Article Abstract:

David Dodge, the governor of the Bank of Canada in December 2004 reported that the Canadian securities regulators are not working enough on fraud and illegal insider trading. Part of the problem is related to the lack of skills in the police forces, the prosecutors and in the regulatory agencies.

Political leaders, such as the New Democratic PartyEs Howard Hampton, said that provinces might be forced to impose new regulations on energy industries. But energy industry leaders rejected calls for new regulations in the wake of the recent power failure.
