McDonald's new ads aiming for smiles all around

McDonald's has launched a $500 million advertising campaign entitled 'We love to see you smile.' The commercials sare filled with images of dedicated workers and happy families. They carry the message that a hamburger can be ordered the way a customer wants it. In keeping with the message, CEO Jack Greenberg launched a $350 million overhaul of the chain's 13,000 restaurants in the US to offer a 'Made for You' cooking system that aims to produce hotter, fresher food however the customer wants it.

Taco Bell drops the Chihuahua in management shuffle

Article Abstract:

Tricon Global Restaurants has implemented a management revamp at its Taco Bell unit on Jul 18, 2000. The company, which replaced Pres Peter Waller with Emil Brolick of Wendy's, has also terminated the services of TBWA/Chiat/Day. The ad agency, the creator of the popular talking Chihuahua advertisements, will be replaced on a trial basis from the $200- million creative advertising account by FCB Worldwide of San Francisco, CA.

Burger King follows urge to jilt Turner

Article Abstract:

Burger King Corp announced on Sep 2000 that it will replace its ad agency handling the US campaign, which is worth $400 million. The hamburger fast- food restaurant chain decided to search for another agency because the ad campaign created by New York, NY-based Lowe Lintas and Partners failed to yield sales increases. Burger King's sales at outlets open for a year or longer have dropped since the beginning of the year.
