Microsoft Corp's court-ordered reorganization, which has been stayed pending an appeal by the software manufacturer, has left employees questioning the effect of such a development on them. Company founder Bill Gates and CEO Steve Ballmer have organized a 'virtual staff meeting' with employees on the morning of Jun 7, 2000, in an effort to place their workers at ease regarding the initial outcome of Microsoft's antitrust case.

Microsoft unveils 'dot-net' next-generation software vision

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp chmn Bill Gates announced a software initiative that will support the next generation of PCs and significantly increase the power of PCs and digital devices. The initiative, called Microsoft.net, will take months, and probably years to be realized. It is intended to enable Microsoft to take advantage of the shift to Net appliances and online services. Microsoft presented applications that are being developed for MSN and Office, new small-business services and tools for programmers.

$40 billion man quietly puts his mark on city

Microsoft Corp Co-Founder Paul Allen is taking on a key role in the rejuvenation of downtown Seattle, WA, with his contribution in the construction of a $400-million stadium for the Seattle Seahawks football team. Allen is also responsible for renovating the Seattle train station and a Cinerama Theater as well as the establishment of a $100-million Experience Music Project museum. Ranked as the second-wealthiest person by Forbes magazine, Allen is considered as one of the most important figure to boost Seattle's prospects.
