Molson needs up to 5 years to repay debt

Article Abstract:

Molson Cos. Ltd. will need up to five years to repay the debt it got from acquiring its namesake brewery. The company's senior unsecured debt has been lowered by the Canadian Bond Rating Service Inc. to single-A (low) from single-A and its commercial paper to A-1 from A-1-plus. The company recently announced that it will acquire the 50% stake in Molson Breweries for C$ 1 billion. The stake was sold to Foster's Brewing Group Ltd. in 1989. The company will acquire the stake for C$680-million in cash and the rest with debt it has raised.

Air Canada CEO warns creditors

Montreal, Que.-based Air Canada, which is led by chief executive officer Robert Milton, is engaged in negotiations with creditors to restructure the debt of Calgary, Alb.-based Canadian Airlines International Ltd. Canadian Airlines has $1 billion in long-term debt.
