Schwab plans wireless link on the road; steady account access using Palm organizers

Article Abstract:

Charles Schwab has teamed up with Palm Inc. to offer its online customers wireless Internet access to their brokerage accounts. The service, called PocketBroker, uses Palm Inc. hand-held data devices to allow customers to trade stocks and receive updated messages about trades or stocks from Schwab, wherever they are. Future plans include wireless account access through Internet-ready mobile phones and pagers, when these devices become available.

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter drops a familiar image to take aim at electronic brokerage firms

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter is launching a new print and TV ad campaign touting its full-service brokerage service and scorning electronic brokerages. The ads, which were created by Leo Burnett U.S.A., represent a departure from the brokerage's longtime formula, and are aimed at winning back younger clients who may have been lured away by discount brokerages.
